Meet Tomas.
Tomas Escalante-Tattersfield MD FACS is a board-certified surgeon who was born in Mexico City with Spanish and British heritage. He obtained his Medical Degree from Mexico’s National Autonomous University, the largest university in Latin America and one of the best research and teaching institutions in the world.
After graduating, Dr. Escalante-Tattersfield completed his General Surgery residency at Mexico’s General Hospital, one of the most prestigious teaching hospitals in Mexico and Latin America, earning the title of Chief Resident, a distinction awarded exclusively to the top surgical resident. His postgraduate thesis on Liver Preconditioning is published in the Journal of Surgical Research.
In 2006 Dr. Escalante-Tattersfield was the first Mexican physician accepted to the highly coveted fellowship at the Bariatric and Metabolic Institute at the Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida, with Dr. Raul J. Rosenthal and Dr. Samuel Szomstein, world-renowned leaders in the fields of Advanced Minimally Invasive and Obesity Surgery.
After completing his training, Dr. Escalante-Tattersfield returned to Mexico and joined the ranks of his alma mater, Mexico’s General Hospital. He was deeply involved in all areas of the art of surgery, including clinical practice, teaching, and surgical research. He founded the Bariatric Surgery Clinic and received praise for his advanced laparoscopic surgery procedures.
Dr. Escalante-Tattersfield is also an active member of both the Mexican Association of General Surgery and the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery, where he is frequently invited to guest lecture and as a member of the directorial board. He is also an international member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
In 2016 Dr. Escalante-Tattersfield moved to Cabo searching for more time for both his patients and his family. This process allowed him to grow tremendously as a father, a person, and a surgeon. He is thrilled to have the privilege of caring for his patients every day. He is devoted to his wife and children, loves his two dogs, and enjoys the outdoors. He continues teaching as a Professor of Health Sciences at the McGregor School. He is a subaquatic explorer, an avid golfer, a self-taught carpenter, a multi-instrument musician, and a hardcore football fan. He enjoys music, creating things with his hands, learning new things, and spending time with the people he loves.
Meet Ana.
Psychologist, author, entrepreneur, devoted wife and mother, Ana’s life’s work has been dedicated to assisting, coaching, and supporting parents in the challenging task of raising children. The art of communication, setting boundaries, identifying and expressing emotions are a few of the profound strategies Ana employs throughout each of her professional endeavors.
Ana earned her Psychology degree from the Ibero-American University in Mexico City. She underwent her first specialization in Containment Therapy at the Prekop Institute in Mexico City with the world-renowned experts Jirina Prekop and Laura Rincón Gallardo. She further specialized in Bariatric Psychology at the Anahuac University and the Ángeles Hospital in Mexico City.
Founder of Te Abrazo, a unique baby-wearing method for new mothers, Ana was one of the first instructors to educate families on this therapeutic strategy almost 20 years ago.
Ana is fluent in Spanish, German, English, French and Italian, and today she assists countless families in her practice throughout Mexico, in addition to traveling internationally to give lectures, courses and conferences on the importance of bonding with children.
When Ana isn’t working, you’ll find her immersed in Flamenco dancing, her crafts, gardening, sewing or in any of several projects she may be involved in, surrounded by her children and husband.
Meet Yunuen.
Lucia Yunuen Delgado-Ayala is a double board-certified physician who was born in Michoacán and raised in Tijuana, where she obtained her medical degree from Baja California’s Autonomous University. She completed an internal medicine residency at the ISSEMYM Medical Center in Metepec through the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico, and completed a second residency in Critical Care Medicine at the American British Cowdray’s Hospital through the National Autonomous University of Mexico, graduating at the top of her class. She underwent further specialization in Neuro-critical Care and obtained a master’s degree in Mechanical Ventilation in San Paulo, Brazil.
Dr. Delgado is an active member of several medical and academic associations, including the Mexican College of Internal Medicine, the Mexican College of Critical Care Medicine, the European Society of Intensive Care, the American College of Physicians, and the Mexican Society of Cardiovascular Critical Care Medicine. She is the current president of the Los Cabos chapter of the Mexican College of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Delgado’s extensive curriculum also includes several publications as an author in peer-reviewed medical journals, medical textbook chapters on mechanical ventilation and internal medicine, postgraduate thesis, and multiple presentations at different national and international congresses and meetings.
She is entirely devoted to her patients and her family, being her three daughters the main reason for moving to Cabo seeking for better quality of life. She enjoys spending time with her family, listening to good music, and has a profound passion for gardening and horticulture, starting and maintaining a beautiful backyard orchard.
Meet Ivette.
Ivette Macedo-Avila, a board-certified Anesthesiologist, was born in Mexico City and raised in the tequila-town of Guadalajara. Dr. Macedo’s mother was a nurse, and she was the only one of four siblings who followed her mother’s path into healthcare. Her passion for medicine has seeped into her three children, who have also followed her path as a physician: her eldest daughter is training to become an anesthesiologist like her mother, her second daughter will become a pediatrician, and her only son is halfway through med school.
Dr. Macedo earned her medical degree from the prestigious Guadalajara’s Autonomous University, and she later completed her Anesthesiology Residency at the Ministry of Health’s Western General Hospital through Guadalajara’s Autonomous University. She also completed postgraduate training in sonogram-guided regional anesthesia.
Dr. Macedo moved to Cabo in 2005 and from the beginning she embarked on a mission to help those who needed it the most: the patients of the government-operated public hospitals of Cabo, being able to share her time with patients from both the public hospitals and her private practice.
Besides medicine, her other passion is the outdoors. She enjoys paddleboarding through the Sea of Cortez, swimming, cycling, running and hiking. She is a consummated triathlete, winning multiple championships and currently focusing on winning her first Ironman competition.
Meet Ariatna.
Ariatna was born in Toluca, capital of the State of Mexico, and was raised in Los Cabos. She obtained her bachelor’s degree on Foreign Languages from the University of the Gulf of California.
Ariatna has been actively involved in medical practice for the past three years, as the pivotal link between the patients we serve and our healthcare group. Through her dedication, professionalism and compassion, Ari’s contribution is essential for delivering the high-quality care that characterizes our practice, and guarantees that each patient’s journey is as seamless and supportive as possible. Her excellent organizational skills, empathy and passion for providing outstanding customer service have made Ari a fundamental part of our team.
In addition to her passion for ensuring our patients have an exceptional experience, Ari enjoys traveling, meeting new people and experiencing new things. She loves being able to live in Cabo and to carry out her professional endeavors in this paradise. Cabo allows her to combine her love for languages while caring for the patients that put their trust on our hands.
